Thursday, August 6th. - Text to self-connection

Hello, kids! Today I want you to take a look around your house and write down in the comment area: 

• What shapes can you find at home? 

• What are your favourite shapes to draw?

Now we are going to prepare for a reading. But before we do, I want you to think of the following: 

LEARN: TEXT TO SELF-CONNECTION

When we read something we can think about things in our lives that are similar to things in the text.  For example the text about rules: My mom makes the rules at home. Winnie and Wilbur in space:  I would like to go to space someday.  It is important to be able to think about what you are reading and connect the text with your personal life.

So we have seen many colours and shapes. Do you think you can find them at home? Take out your copy books, write down today’s date.

Now, copy the following chart and go around the house (it can be in the garden as well) and find shapes and colours! Remember we are detectives out on a special mission! So the more you find the better! 

In the boxes write down the colours and the object you find. You can look at the example.
